Subject: Black Hills Ammunition As a self made company Halo Arms has earned a reputation for top quality, affordabe rifles with top of the line performance. Our business ethic is built on on a solid foundation of Quality, Innovation and Dedication to customers. When it comes to ammo, Black Hills Ammunition holds similar high standards which is evident in their products and good name in the industry. My experience with Black Hills Ammunition has been excellent. From the start it was a pleasure to communicate with an organization which is well grounded and thoroughly knows their business. I have sampled numerous brands of 308 Win ammunition and although very few have performed as well, I give top choice to Black Hills Ammunition for being a company who delivers consistant top level performance and who communicates with the customer. Our HA 308 FTR (Field Tactical Rifle) has excellent peformance with Black Hills 168g match BTHP. Average .5" groups at 100 yards is common. When it comes to quality ammo, Halo Arms recomends Black Hills Ammunition for your sporting and LE needs. |
Subject: Millett Optics Virtually any company and skilled gunsmith can take the very best components and make a rifle which will shoot .5" groups all day. The problem is that the end result is a product which will cost way more than most shooters can afford. It takes true tallent to design and build a product which is very affordable and will shoot .5" groups all day. Being able to provide the affordable rifle also requires affordable optics. When considering tactical scopes the price can easily rise to amounts which eclipse the actual rifle. Is high end optical performance worth the price? If you are using the optics every day for 4-5 hours a day, the answer may be Yes. However, there are very few who fit in this category. The majority of shooters will use it for a short period of time. This is where a quality scope with good performance may appeal to most shooters. Millett is best known for their iron sights and mounts however, they have recently launched a new line of tactical scopes. I contacted Millett and was pleased to be able to communicate with a company founder about their products and commitment to the industry. This gives me the impression that they are well grounded and are serious about producing top quality product. I recently used a Millett 6x24x56, mil dot, tactical scope with Millett tactical rings. The scope has a few internal features which are of Millett design however the total package seems to be durable with well thought out tactical knobs and side focus. The tactical rings are well made in aluminum and have a lot of contact surface area for secure mounting. I have to be honest, the lenses are not as bright as some of the high end brands however, this is a comprimise the average shooter may consider when weighing the overall cost savings. For about half the price of a high end brand scope the Millett tactical scopes seem to provide a rugged platform, good glass and well thought out knobs. An excellent package for the price. If you are on a budget or not, you may want to consider Millett tactical scopes. |
